Vote or Die, But what if I disagree with both?

So the other day, I walked into a conversation with some people who were talking about the upcoming election.  For this topic they were talking about the California Senate Race between Barbra Boxer and Carly Fiorina. I stated that I didn’t agree with either candidate, and couldn’t really support either. Now, the reasons I didn’t feel [...]

My Latest Ideas…Life, love and discipline.

So its been a little while since I have written anything. No, its not because I have run out of ideas, or insight, but rather because I have been pretty busy….getting married is serious business. Here are some of the things I have been learning over the past few months.   I have finished up [...]

Waging peace….

The second to the last beatitude, is what we are talking about today. Matthew 5:9, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.” Wow, what is a peace maker, and why are the peace makers sons of God? (Just as an aside here—because I don’t want to be misunderstood. I believe our government is acting responsibly in it’s attacks on the [...]

The beatitudes, the way for the Kingdom of God to be on the earth. This week we are going to talk about another one. Blessed are the Merciful, they will be shown mercy. But, what is mercy?

The Son comes in the Mourning.

The anti-beatitudes…

Studying  the beatitudes, I found this great essay, here by John Dear, tell me what you think. In Him, JC Elliott

You’ve got a beatitude…

The beatitudes, these 8 great things are what I would call God’s “to do” list. And today I am going to talk about the first one. “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.”(Matthew 5:4). Lets back up and put this text into context.
